Discover The Secret of Vic Challenger's Lack of Fear. Learn about her amazing past and the derivation of her name. Then travel with her to exotic locales, encroach on dangerous domains and live the secret headlines of the past you thought were fiction. Vic Challenger will take you into the haunts of creatures you don't believe in, things she wouldn't write about because the public wasn't ready, couldn't handle it. Are you ready, can you handle it?
Time Doesn't Matter is the beginning of the on-going series about the 1920's adventuress, who works as an adventure travel writer while pursuing her own, secret, goal. Her determination and past allow her, or perhaps force her, into situations that would make strong men weep for their mother. Vic's motto covers it all You don't need to be brave - you just need to do what needs done.
In this first novel of the action packed series, Vic begins in Africa, faces death again and again, travels to her dim past, faces death again and again, then travels to Mexico where she faces death again and again. Adventurous action is non-stop. Vic faces evil men, prehistoric beasts and things without a name but she has a goal and nothing will stop her. Vic isn't a gin guzzling, foul mouthed hard nose as you might expect. She's a farm girl from the early twentieth century, highly principled, educated as a mathematician and astronomer, who loves pink dresses and candy, and who has a secret past, an unfilled desire and a will-do-it attitude.
vic Time Doesn't Matter Jerry Gill Edgar Rice Burroughs Books
In this first novel of heroine Vic Challenger, Jerry Gill has written a breathtaking book that is part Indiana Jones, part Clan of the Cave Bear, and as thrilling an adventure as I can ever remember reading!Victoria Custer, a 1920’s explorer and adventurer from Nebraska has dreams of a past life. A looong past life. She feels a strange connection to a cave girl warrior named Nat-ul and her beloved Nu, who lived 100,000 years ago. Or did they? Victoria, or “Vic,” is drawn to exotic lands, and whether in Africa, Mexico, or points in between, always seems to find a way to get into - and instinctively out of - trouble. Accompanied by her brother, she seeks the next big thrill while also looking for answers to what may have been her past.
The best historical fiction novels make you want to learn more about the time and places, and if the novel weren’t so fascinating, I would have stopped to research as often as I read (I did have to see what a Peccary is. I want one.). Helpfully, at the end, there are several notes concerning things mentioned in the book. Mr. Gill has done his homework.
I haven’t been so excited to find a new series since reading a random Robert B. Parker Spenser novel many years ago. Very well written and exciting, Time Doesn’t Matter is a novel adventure-seekers need to read!

vic Time Doesn't Matter Jerry Gill Edgar Rice Burroughs Books Reviews
Mildly entertaining if only for the number of misplaced pieces of text! I needs serious re-editing
Very interesting to find this here. I will look forward to experiencing this all over again. great find!
This is the first book in a promising series by Jerry Gill. Beginning with Vic, a 1920s female adventure hero, this book makes clear it's both nostalgic and science fictionish. If Edgar Rice Burroughs had been around a little later in the Golden Age, this is something like what he would have produced.
I really enjoyed reading the first book of this saga. Vic is a character that is one of the best adventuresses I have seen in a while. She is a dream, one I would love to get to know more and add her to my own projects. ERB created a great character and Jerry Gill has given her a more complete and exciting life. I really and truly recommend this book to any fan of this character.
This book is a fantastic re-introduction to what Edgar Rice Burroughs first wrote in 1913. It offers a great refresher for those who first fell in love with the story, but the best is what follows as the story doesn't end there. The adventures of Vic, of her eternal lover Nu/Stu, is one that I love to read in this story and in this series. Each book is a real page turner in its own right. I really love reading this story and I hope that you will to because I promise you that the end of this story is not in it's last page, rather it is just a new beginning that makes us want to know more.
I love historical fiction above all other genres as I find it so fascinating to read. I didn't discover this genre until just a few years ago and was delighted to find out that I could learn history while being entertained by wildly fun fictional stories at the same time. I was thrilled to find such a unique and fun read with author Jerry Gill's "VIC Time Doesn't Matter".
This is story is beyond original in that Gill took a public domain work from author Edgar Rice Burroughs and re-wrote parts of it to create his story. Burroughs' original story, "Eternal Savage", introduces these main characters but did not continue as promised so Gill did the job for him many years later and it is outstanding. The story of Victoria, or Vic, who is living in the 1920's yet has the ability to flashback and remember places and events from long ago. While visiting an estate in Africa, she has one of these visions that sets her on a quest to find Nu's reincarnation. Taking her brother, Barnie, along for the ride, this is an awesome and pretty intense adventure with some very likable characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this read from the opening pages on. It was a delight to re-visit some of Burroughs' work and then to see what Gill did with it, which was spectacular. Vic was very easy to like and the adventure itself had some great action alongside some good historical references. Definitely recommend this one.
